Windows Tune-up and Speed-up (revised 6/3/6)

The following procedure makes the computer run a lot better and faster, always much more cost effective than hardware upgrades.  Typical machine time is 4 to 8 hours.  Chargeable time in our shop is 2 hours ($120) to 3 hours ($180).  We usually cap (maximum chargeable) our labor charge at 3 hours ($180) unless otherwise explained to and authorized by you.  Most Items below will be done if necessary pertaining to your reported problem.  Additional 10 minutes (exit orientation) is included with the capped charge when you pickup.

 

Screen saver coming on too soon and/or causing problem.	$1
Eliminate unnecessary or duplicate programs from starting during startup.  This makes your PC starts slower, runs slower and can’t shut down properly.	$60/hr
Remove pop-up’s to make your PC fixable and manageable.	$60/hr
Provide and install pop-up remover to eliminate annoying pop-ups.	$30
Provide and install latest Anti-virus and Live-updates.  Scan, detect and remove virus (cost of Anti-virus software may be extra).	$90
Detect and correct registry errors.	$60
Detect, fix and eliminate Hijack agents (not easy and it is not automatic.)	$60/hr
Install latest Adobe to read PDF files.	$1
Install latest direct-X.	$1
Install all available Window Critical/optional/Driver/Explorer updates	$60/hr
Install latest Microsoft Media Player & Direct X	$1
Eliminate unnecessary temporary files to make space on your hard drive.	$60/hr
Make space on your hard drive.	$60/hr
Scan and test hard drive integrity (If time allows and only if necessary).	$1
De-fragment hard drive file structure to improve large file read/write speed if needed.	$1
Inspect cooling system & dust accumulation inside PC.  Clean if needed.	$60/hr
Get rid of unnecessary application software(s) without customer's presence which are obviously unnecessary.	$1
Get rid of unnecessary application software(s) at customer's presence and/or additional time with customer at $60/hour.	$60/hr

 

Please allow 10 minutes of free instruction when you pick up your PC from us.  When the above whole-9-yards are done, a follow up visit within 1 month does not take long and costs $60 or less.

 

To keep your PC running right, you must perform the following steps (call us if you need help):

(1)  (a) Install virus protection software if needed (b) Daily new virus updates (c) Scan weekly.

(2)  Check weekly to download and install all Windows updates (free) from Microsoft.

(3)  (a) Install pop-up remover  (b) Daily updates for new pop-ups (c) Scan daily.

(4)  Defrag your hard drive at least once a month as part of your PC maintenance.

(5)  Weekly, check for newer version of spybot & adaware at www.download.com.
